My daughter purchased her African Grey about 2 years ago from a classified ad. The people she purchased him from said that he was about 8 months old. My daughter has kept him in her room with him for the past year and a half, so he is very attached to her and unfortunately, not interested in anyone else. I started doing some research on the breed when my daughter started going out more. I ended up bringing him into our kitchen, so he could be around everyone, and I have quickly become his caretaker. Though I take care of him, he still isn't interested in me. He talks to me in the moring, takes food from me and will let me pick him up if there are other people around that he doesn't know as well, but that's it. He wants nothing to do with anyone except my daughter, and he is very scared of most other people. I would keep him for myself, but I don't have the experience that I feel he deserves. He's brilliant, as African Greys are, and I can tell he wants to be social. I nearly want to cry when my daughter walks in for 5 minutes, and all he wants is her, only to have her walk away. It's just not fair to him. If I'd have realized how much care and attention these birds need, I would have never allowed her to purchase one. He loves Disney & 50's music, snacks, and being outside. He has never flown. He comes with his cage and stand. The stand is about 6 feet tall (pictured). I'll get more pictures up soon, and another video tomorrow morning when he's happy and singing.
