We had a litter of 14 puppies born September 30, 2022. We are now down to six puppies left. We have the mommy, a pup from the first litter, & are probably going to keep one from this litter. This will be her last litter as well. I have been around dogs my whole life. This breed of dogs is unlike any I have EVER been around. They are super lazy, love to sleep, do not chew anything, & are so very loyal. I have health issues & our pup (now 2.5 years old) knows when I'm not feeling well. If I'm having a rough day,I swear he's even more loyal than my regular days. They were bred from the beginning for guardianship. They are still classified as breeding dogs, but now also companion dogs. Average life expectancy is 8-10 years. We have three younger children, our youngest being five now. The one we raised from a pup protects all three of our children like his own, & our youngest is his best friend. The are a large size dog & can seem scary. They probably are if you are not the owner. The mastiff is a dignified yet good-natured animal. He is loving and affectionate toward his family. Grooming is quick and easy. The short coat requires little more than a weekly brushing and a quick wipe with a towel or chamois cloth. Although the dog's talents include guarding, police work, and military work as well as search and rescues, many of today's mastiffs consider their mission in life to be a loving companion to their human packs.
