Blitz is a1 year old German Shepherd, birthdate 1/26/2016. Hes around 90lbs now, has a dark face and body, with a tan underbelly, and brindle legs. His mother was traditional black and tan, 80lbs, AKC registered, his father was pure white,100lbs, also AKC registered. However the AKC won't register puppies when the 2 colors are mixed like that, so he is not AKC registered. He is however, spayed and up to date on shots. He has not had any health issues thus far and is in excellent shape from running with my husband. He is a good guard dog, barking at anyone unfamiliar that comes near the house. If you have a guest over, he will calm down and accept them once introduced. He plays with our older children (6 &3), wrestling, chasing, tug-of-war, and is moderately gentle with them. Being a big puppy, he doesn't always realize his size and can get too rough, but it's never been with ill intent. He is good natured and craves love and attention. He does fine on car rides, enjoys running through the sprinkler, and is an excellent runner on a leash. When he was 7 months old he went through a 14 day in-house training program at Alpha K9 U in Carmel. The commands he learned are sit, down, wait, stay, off, heel, with me, leave it, place/cage. Along with the initial training, the $850 fee also included 3 refresher courses that you could use to learn with him anytime before this coming July. He really hasn't been around other dogs a lot, but he playfully barks at the neighbor's dog who he's used to, and my husband reports that he will not charge other dogs when out running, but will bark or ignore them all together. We do have a cat (a very patient cat) that will play with Blitz, and he very much enjoys licking and chasing the cat. So I suspect he would get along with other cats as well. The reason we are giving him up is because we underestimated what it takes to own a German Shepherd. Our yard is not that big and even with the almost daily runs he gets, it's not enough to use up his energy. A dog with too much pent up energy results in a bored dog, so he has taken to pacing the yard looking for some excitement. We have a brand new baby so he hasn't been allowed inside as much as before, and my husband is starting a new job soon, so the amount of attention he was getting is going to become even less. It's not fair to him to have to sit around and be bored all of the time. To be happy he needs a more active lifestyle, extra attention, room to run, or a job to keep him busy. If you think Blitz would be a good fit for your family please contact Meagan @ (xxx) xxx-xxx6 or xxxx_xxxxx@xxxxx.xxx We are asking $500 OBO for him, because of what we paid plus what we've spent on training. We would provide his dishes, crate, bed, medical records, heartworm medicine, flea prevention pill, toys, and remaining food.
