About the Breeder BREEDING SINCE 1989 We are hobby breeders in Central California. We are located about 75 miles East of San Francisco and south of Sacramento. We have bred several different breeds in the past, but then about 15 years ago, we fell in love with Goldens for their intelligence and temperament and have been exclusively breeding Golden Retrievers since 2009. All of our dogs are members of our family and as such are raised in our home with lots of love and plenty of socialization.We will always accept a dog of ours back under any conditons. We begin house training our pups inside our home using alfalfa pellets at 4 weeks of age, so when your dog goes home with you it will already be 80-90% house trained and crate trained. When we promised our older son to get him a dog for his 10th birthday, we didn't know where to begin. So, we ordered books and did some research online. In the end, we decided that it was time to go and meet some dog owners and their puppies. We drove from San Jose one early Saturday morning and visited 8 dog breeders which we had lined up before. We visited a few cities in the San Joaquin Valley (Hilmar, Turlock, Merced, Manteca, Lodi, etc.) and met up with the breeders, some good some not so good. We visited Carol & Hali and then we went on to our other appointment. In the end, we decided to come back to them since they were the most genuine dog lovers among all of the dog owners we had met that day.. and of course they had one great puppy which we really liked. Carol & Hali truly care about their litter and their long-term wellbeing. As breeders, they are picky when it comes to who they would sell their puppies to. They ask pointed questions as to make sure the puppy is truly wanted and cared for. The sales contract they offer is unlike most other contracts which is purely transactional... the wellbeing of the puppy is central in their contract. They cared so much for the puppy that they even took him back for a few days as we went on a short trip where no pets were allowed.
