Charlie is a good boy and a handsome boy and was an emotional purchase to replace our previous handsome boy. Unfortunately that is a terrible reason to get a dog and I’m ashamed to say I succumbed to it. I planned on training him as my new gun dog for dove hunting which I have no doubt he will excel at given the opportunity. He hasn’t received any specific gun dog training yet, but he is house broken and crate trained. He gets at least one, usually two walks a day to burn off some of his energy and is exposed to and fine with our two cats, though he’s a little rough with them at this stage. He’s great on the leash both walking and next to a bicycle. We are teaching calm-submissive behavior, so no jumping or going bezerk before feeding time. He understands ‘sit’ and ‘wait’, ‘go pee’ and ‘come’. He also understands ‘kennel’. He gets crated for nights and doesn’t whine or bark. Barking in general is strongly discouraged and he is quiet 99% of the time. He is up to date on shots but still needs two more boosters. He is taking Simparica Trio for heartworm, fleas and ticks. He has not been neutered yet.
