Dougal is a sweet little 8 year old Golden Retriever mix. He came to Rescue from a shelter, weighing 38 pounds and with cracked, crusty paws so severe he could hardly walk. After medications, loving care and paw soaks, he now enjoys long walks, demonstrating surprising stamina, and has bulked up to a healthy weight. He has a little arthritis, but has no issue with steps or jumping up on a sofa or bed. Dougal can be a tail wagging machine. He loves belly rubs, attention, hugs and will happily sit next to you on the sofa, or lay on the floor nearby. He loves his stuffed toys, but ignores tennis balls. He gets a little excited walking on a leash, when he sees another dog, but will calm down quickly. Dougal can live as a single dog or with other dogs, but he might want to be the man in charge. He would be fine with older children, but we have no experience with younger children, so we would avoid that environment. Please consider this middle aged, low/medium energy cuddle bug for your home.
