Hero is a 5.5 year old mixed breed, tuxedo black rescue. We got him when he was about 10 weeks old, and he was an adorable puppy. He has been trained – is typically very quiet, knows some tricks and doesn’t get on furniture. He definitely wants to please, and can be very gentle and sweet. He LOVES to be outdoors. While he is a chill dog, he loves exercise and is playful with toys and balls. He gets along with most dogs, prefers girl dogs. From the time he was very young, we joked about him having social anxiety. He just seems generally nervous. He did this growling thing when the kids would be with him, which is confusing, as it is accompanied by tail wagging. I truly believe he is insecure; noises and chaos freak him out. We have 3 kids who adore him, and several nieces and nephews (toddlers) who flood our house constantly, as do kids’ friends. As you can imagine, this dog is struggling. The noise, the people, the constant in and out, makes him upset. He has become overwhelmed and barked at a few kids, and nipped my son’s friend’s butt! While the idea of not having him kills us, he needs a new home. He is less able to tolerate the kid noise, and seems like he doesn’t totally have control over his reaction. My kids are old enough that they are here a lot without us, and he is not into it! He would thrive with someone loving, active, and who has a calm household. Please let me know if you can help! I am desperate to find a loving solution. Thank you so much.
