White-Bellied Caique and Lovebird
Looking for a GOOD home. I rescued these two parrots back in the summer of 2020. The person that I rescued them from did not let them out of the cage very much and the caique, at the time, had just started plucking his feathers. I have had him on medicine for almost a year now - one is a pill for anxiety and the other is just fish oil - but it has been a struggle to get the feathers to grow back. Now and then he will still go on a picking spree and that's even with a preventative collar on. The caique was not handled much, but he is much better now in regards to that. The more you handle him the better he will be. Every now and then his caique "temper" shows up when he wants his way. Although - he certainly is not mean. The lovebird has not been handled at all and I have not made a lot of progress with him. I do keep their wings trimmed that way I can keep the cage open in a room and therefore they can not fly away. The person I got them from claimed that they are both males, and the caique at the time was about 2 years old. She thought the lovebird was 8. Not sure?? She was suppose to send me the paperwork, but never did. The birds are bonded, but if you decide you do not want both I could find a home for the lovebird. I purchased these for my daughter because at the time she had just lost a parrot and we thought by rescuing another might be beneficial. She is not interested in them now and I can not give them the time and attention they need because I am caring for a sick family member. The caique does sing and whistle quite a bit. The love bird does a little chattering now and then, especially when his buddy is with him. The pair came with a very large cage, an outside dome cage ( that I put under a porch in the summer so he (meaning the caique) can join me outside, a backpack, a travel cage and many toys, ropes, food/water bowls,etc... all of which I would pass on to you. I am hoping that there is someone who is looking for some company and can work with these two little guys. The caique is quite sweet, but would need some time to warm up to you. He was very skid-dish at first - not really sure how he was treated prior. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH- CAIQUES SHOULD NOT BE YOUR FIRST OWNED PARROT. They can be a lot of fun!! If you have any other questions please reach out.View Detail
