Boerboel/Boxer Female 'Angel'
We call this little girl 'Angel' because she is the sweetest puppy of the litter. She's gentle, playful, cuddly, and very sweet. She loves people a lot! She has a very good temperament. She has a friendly, happy personality. I'd love to find a home where she will get a lot of one on one attention. Angel was born on Christmas Day and is ready to go home. She is drinking water and eating hard puppy kibble. She is one of the smaller girls, but not for lack of appetite. TRAINING SO FAR... We do a few different things to work with the puppies to get them ready for homes. We spend a lot of time talking to them, petting them, picking them up, holding them, and handling them in general. I also spend time specifically playing with toys with the puppies to help them associate chewing with their toys and not people stuff. If I see them go for something they shouldn't I will move them away from it and give them a toy instead. I am starting to use a firm 'no no' now as well. It's been working really well with this litter. They are very intelligent and have had some of the best temperaments we've ever had. In general the whole litter has been very laid back, playful, but not loud or aggressive even at their roughest. We have always had a really easy time with training their parents, as well as other litters before them. They will likely enjoy learning new tricks as they get older. I definitely recommend that you keep training them new things long after they have learned their basic commands. We've trained their parents to do things like jump through hoops, so don't hesitate in trying to teach them more complicated tricks as you go, safely of course. (Their parents LOVE showing off!) We are starting to potty train with newspapers/puppy pads right now. My house is a little tricky navigating all of them outside in time to make going potty outside significant, but they have been very good about going in a one general area and have taken to the papers really well. It's been pretty easy redirecting them and them going where they need too. SOCIALIZATION... They have been around other dogs, people, and cats. They have not been around kids, but they are at a really good age to start getting them adjusted to a family with children. We have put a lot into getting them socialized and used to human voices, being touched, and having all four paws off the ground (being held). ABOUT THE BREED... They are Boerboel Mastiff mixed with Boxer. Daddy was a Boerboel and Mom is a mix of Boerboel and Boxer. Boerboel Mastiffs are a herding dog from Africa. They are smaller than Bull mastiffs, are highly affectionate, incredibly intelligent & trainable, loyal, gentle, and are the kind of dog that will put their life on the line to protect their family. I have had this particular family bloodline for over 6 years, but this will likely be our last litter as Daddy is no longer with us. SIZE... Dad was ~90 lbs and Mom is ~55 lbs. The female puppies look like they are taking after more Mom's size.View Detail
