Recently Adopted German Shepherd Puppies Near Liberty
1.5 year old German shepherd
1.5 year old German shepherd male. located in Liberty, Maine. Rehoming fee; $350 This is King! He is a tan and black full German shepherd. We got him from a shelter where he was transported from Louisiana. King needs a lot of work and needs a family who is willing to take the time to work with him. We believe he could be the perfect companion but we just don’t have to time or space for what he needs. the shelter we rescued him from lied to us about everything, they told us he got along with dogs (actually that he loved other dogs) they told us he was a calm normal German shepherd, they told us he was house trained and that he knew basic commands. All of this was a lie. so please read carefully before thinking about bringing this beautiful dog into your home. We have worked with king over the past 3-4 months and we have made a lot of progress, he couldn’t be within 30 feet of our other dog without snapping at him, they now play all day long. He was not house trained when we got him, to this day he hasn’t had an accident in about a month, he goes to the door handle when he has to go outside. He didn’t know ANY commands. He now knows “sit”, “lay down” “speak” sometimes “paw” “up on couch”. He’s learning stay, as well as down. He had no idea what No meant when we got him, he would go on counters, he would take food right out of your hand, he was out of control. He has gotten so much better. He does much better with telling him no, he still has a long way to go but he’s done great so far. We got him fixed, we got him crate trained, we got him trained to be on a leash (he does still pull but he’s getting better!). He Does amazing for car rides, he just sleeps the whole time! He doesn’t bark a whole lot at people walking by windows. However with all of these amazing things he has learned In a short period of time, he will need a lot more. He likes to destroy things, the only toys he can have is really tough ones which even then he’ll go through it in a few days. Due to this he cannot be out of the crate while you are not home, he will chew anything he can find. He also either goes in a crate at night or has to be in our bedroom with the door shut. He has no recall, he needs a fenced in yard or a run. He has a high prey drive and will take off and will not come back. He still needs help with jumping on people. He is very high strung and really needs someone who has the space to get his energy out and has the time to work on all the other things. His story; from what we’ve heard and from what we see with King, we believe he was left outside all day long in Louisiana. The pads on his feet were burnt, he also has a hard time staying outside when you go inside, and again he has no indoor manners so we believe he was hardly ever inside. He was also only 50lbs when we got him. He is super super sensitive which we believe that means he was abused in some way. With all this being said, he truly is an amazing dog, he is very smart and has proven that with how quickly he has learned things,he will cuddle with you for hours, he LOVES people and attention. If he gets his exercise he will lay on the couch and relax for a good portion of the day. Our main reason for finding a new home for him is space and the fact that we have another dog. We believe he would do best in a home with no other animals or young children at this time, we believe he can eventually have another dog friend but in order to keep him focused and get him the training and attention he needs we believe he needs to be an only dog. That is the only reason we are rehoming him. He won’t go to just anybody, obviously with all of the things he needs to work on we want to make sure he goes to a home that fully understands his needs and isn’t going to give him away because the last thing this pup needs is to be in a shelter or in a home that’ll kick him outside again. I want to be very transparent with his needs because I want him to go to someone willing to help him be the AMAZING companion I know he can be. Any questions please feel free to ask. He is healthy, fixed, no physical issues, all up to date on shots.View Detail
