English Pointer is originated from United Kingdom but German Spitz (Klein) is originated from Germany. English Pointer may grow 42 cm / 17 inches higher than German Spitz (Klein). English Pointer may weigh 24 kg / 53 pounds more than German Spitz (Klein). Both English Pointer and German Spitz (Klein) has almost same life span. English Pointer may have more litter size than German Spitz (Klein). English Pointer requires Low Maintenance. But German Spitz (Klein) requires Moderate Maintenance
We can find records for pointers from 17th century. Breeds such as Old Spanish and Portuguese Pointer were set in to England from European Mainland. In 1800s they were brought to America and then they slowly developed their hunting skills and in 1910 they became an excellent bird hunter. In 1936 Modern American Kennel was established and they bred pointers in large quantities. They are very popular in southern United States and are called as "bird dog". Pointers are good in hunting birds like pheasant and grouse. They got their name because of their special skills in hunting.
Also referred to as the Miniature Spitz, the German Spitz is believed to have descended from the Nordic Samoyed and Lapphund. Some dog experts say they were developed from the larger European Spitz, and that they were once referred to as Pomeranians.
It is also thought that these dogs were in all likelihood brought over to Germany during the Middle Ages. This gives you an idea as to how ancient the breed is. There are actually 4 different Spitz breeds, divided by their sizes.
