Jack Needs a New Home
Hi, I live in Massachusetts and rescued a Beagle/Fox Hound/Jack Russell mix (vet thinks that's the mix) about 6 years ago. His name is Jack, and he can run like the dickens, he's extremely smart, loves to be with other dogs, etc., but he is obsessed with protecting/guarding me, and he has recently bitten two men on two different occasions because they came to the house unexpectedly to him. Because of this I cannot trust him around anyone. Nor can I put him to sleep just because he's protecting me.
Honestly, I think Jack would be much happier on a farm with other animals or hunting with other beagle dogs. He goes after anything that he senses, has even jumped my 6' fence in the backyard to get at some sort of animal that was on the other side. His sense of smell is incredible!
Jack would be better off living on a farm or a place where he has a job. I think he would do great as a hunting dog but he has never done so. I also think he would do better with a male owner, so he wouldn't get obsessed in protecting them. Jack is spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
