Beautiful Terrier Mix needs loving home
Breed: Sato (terrier/collie mix) Weight: 30lbs Age: 3.5 yrs, born June 2018 No medical conditions Needs to be an “only dog" OK with indoor cats Obedience and house trained, Cuddly, and Happy! Georgie is a cheerful, cuddly, sweet, agile, responsive, beautiful dog who lives in Gloucester MA. She is eager to please, listens well, and loves to give hugs and kisses. She is 3.5 years old, weighs 30 lbs, is up to date on all her shots, and has no medical conditions. Because she spent the first year of her life living on the street trying to survive in hard conditions, she is defensive with most other dogs and must live in a home with no other dogs where she has some outdoor space for running, smelling and exploring off leash. She does relax and sleep well, but she needs moderate exercise through smelling new things, playing games in the house, or walking each day. She successfully completed two full “Doggy Boot Camps” at [Atlantic K9 Dog Training & Boarding](https://xxxxxxxxxx.xxx/), and is praised for her ability to learn and retain skills. She knows sit, high five, stay, place, wait, down, leave it, out, up, and more! She is also “threshold trained,” meaning she is pretty good about not running out an open door without permission. She likes to stay close to her person and will stay within your eyeline when reminded. Georgie also pees and poos on command so no no long waits for you when you're out in the cold! Georgie has great recall off-leash and loves to hike in the woods or run at the beach, as long as she can be kept away from other dogs. She enjoys toys she can chew on, likes a good game of “tug of war,” and does the most adorable zoomies! She has been around wildlife— squirrels, rabbits, wild turkeys, deer— and while she does have a prey drive and likes to chase and may bark at them, she will “leave it” and come back when you call her. When she is sleepy, she loves to curl up under a blanket and often wants to snuggle with her people. She’ll sit happily on your lap if you let her! Georgie is attentive to human emotions and offers comfort or comes over to check on a person she thinks might be having a bad day. She would make a great emotional support animal at home and away from other dogs. But she gets nervous out and about and wouldn't make a good companion at appointments or in busy environments like a store or busy street. She is fully house trained, crate and muzzle trained (we use a muzzle at the vet where she gets nervous and can be defensive of having her feet touched or getting shots). She responds beautifully to verbal commands, and is also fully e-collar trained (we use the “mini-educator”) and she walks in a gorgeous “heel” on a loose leash with a prong collar. If you take her home you can change these modalities, but she thrives with structure, and these tools have worked wonderfully so far and help keep her away from other animals as needed. She likes having a job to do, even if that job is just to heel next to you on a walk, come close for snuggles, or sit next to you while you relax in the bath or watch TV. She's a sensitive creature who just wants to hang out with you and enjoy life! Her happiness is infectious and even the most stoic folks who've met her can't help but squeal a little bit at her cuteness and willingness to give love. She can be easily driven anywhere within a few hours drive of Gloucester MA, but if there’s interest beyond that, reach out to me and we will make it happen. Most important thing is Georgie finds her new home, wherever that may be! If you are interested in learning more about Georgie and possibly adopting her, please reach out to me via xxxxxx.xxxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxx.xxx. Because we want the best for Georgie, we will need to check in with you about your home, previous animal experience, and expectations before sending her off to her new person (or people). And if needed, we can give you her indoor crate, a portable fold-up crate (great for the car or if you take her with you during travel), warm jackets, bed, food and bowls, toys, and leashes/collars. Medical records available upon request if and when we get towards the final stages of adoption! And while it is not ideal for Georgie, we are also open to a contract that returns Georgie to us if there are any unexpected emergencies or changes in your life that might disrupt her ability to stay with you.View Detail
