The Shetland Sheepdog is a small, active, and agile herding dog standing between 13 and 16 in or 33 to 41 cm at the shoulder. They can weigh in on an average between 11 to 24 pounds or 5kg to 10.9 kg. Their life span usually averages about 12 to 18 years so, they are generally healthy dogs overall.
Their coat is long, harsh and straight, with a dense undercoat, and comes in black, blue merle, and sable, with white markings. The coat, along with a long, wedge-shaped head; small, three-quarter erect ears; and deep-chested, level-backed torso, give Shelties the look of a rough-coated Collie in miniature form. The Sheltie has a profuse double coat that sheds a lot. Owners must be prepared to brush the coat weekly, and more often during shedding season.
With shelties bright and eager intelligence, it makes them easy to train and possibly become world-class competitors in obedience, agility, and herding trials and tracking. They are sensitive and affectionate family dogs, highly in tune with the mood of the household. They like to bark and tend to be reserved toward strangers which pose to be two qualifications of an excellent watchdog.
Shelties are active and athletic, and while they need a moderate amount of exercise, they are also very adaptable to their family's way of life. They do well as city dogs if owners provide sufficient exercise. They enjoy outings with their people that will exercise both their mind and body. Shelties they shine as therapy dogs.

In addition, we get their potty training off to a great start along with other basic training skills such as sit, come/come here, using a doggie door and stairs. We will deliver puppies up to 4 hours from our location, Leesville, LA driving and anything beyond this will be an additional fee. We will also deliver puppies to you by flight as the round-trip plane ticket or pet/cargo shipping will be at owners’ expense.
